At the age of three, I underwent a major operation to correct it. One eye was a success. The other\u2026 not quite. It improved maybe 70\u201380%, but remained the \u201cweaker one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Growing up, I relied on <span class=\"s2\">glasses daily<\/span>. As I entered adulthood, I chose to stop wearing them \u2014 more from defiance than improvement. I wanted freedom, but that freedom came at a cost.
